Letter from the Herbalist

Maureen Rpgers

This month I'm celebrating my favorite holiday--St Patrick's Day. And my birthday. From the time I was small I thought everyone had the local radio station dedicate an Irisfeel they need something h song to me....either MacNamara's Band or Tu Ra Lu Ra Lu Ra. That was from my father. When I was in high school,  I celebrated by going to the Hibernian Club with my girlfriend and her parents and a few hundred drunken Irish folk.  And then I went thru my drinking phase and doesn't everyone get drunk on St Paddy's Day.   And now I don't even celebrate.   Ahhhh....aging.

Things are changing in the herb world.  For those that don't know about it, kratom is a great herb that has helped hundreds get off of opiods.  It helps manage pain.  In fact, my HVAC man told me he was thrilled he was able to manage his back pain without the medicine from his doctor which made him groggy.  So I looked through my database and contacted my source in Indonesia (where kratom comes from) a ordered 4 kilos.  It came quickly and my partner and I tried it.  There are different varieties of kratom and we decided to go strictly with the variety thar worked on pain rather than the euphoric variety.  I must be aging.  Many doctors and therapists also feel that kratom helps with the opioid problem.  The DEA has recently come to the conclusion that this is an herb that should be off the market.   Looks like they need something to replace cannibis.  So if you have a chance, try kratom while it's still available.
